“My father happens to be a friend, philosopher and guide in my life. My mother is both a role model and the architect of my career.”

Educated in an exemplary way, he taught for five decades as a true academic tutor and guide. His mind is glued to the well-being of the rural masses, and he has the heart of gold that never rests but marches forward.

Founder’s Message

VISHWAMANAVA VIDYANIKETHANA

Though ours is an agricultural family, my father was fortunate enough to study at D. Banumaiah High School in Mysore. After his education he returned to his village. He had an excellent command on both English and Kannada language. He was an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave. He firmly believed that people will change only through Knowledge, Education and Social Transformation. He was a real KARMAJEEVI who distributed his wetlands among the landless poor of our village. Because of his belief and attitude, we, his children and our mother, were subjected to untold suffering and humiliation. But I must say that his magnanimity of heart has helped us to build our careers on an even keel while also growing intellectually.

My father always made it a point to correct our language and educated us on how to use respectful language both at home and in the outside world. Needless to say, this helped us a great deal in life and our minds became much more socially oriented.  He firmly believed that life acquires meaning only through education and led us on a straight and narrow path to redemption.

When I dropped my anchor in Mysore after my education and got into the teaching profession, I strongly felt that I should provide education at a very affordable rate to the children from economically and socially backward families.

Soon, the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) came to my rescue and I was able to realize my dream of opening the school for destitute children as the authority allotted us land measuring an acre in 1988. Mr. D Made Gowda was the chairperson of MUDA at the time. I was able to build the structure of the school phase-wise and today it has blossomed into a fully pledged school accommodating nearly 500 children, from nursery to 10th standard.

Our School achieves good results and charges very reasonable fess. I must say that we have a highly dedicated teaching staff whose loyalty and work ethics are worth emulating. Their contribution is immense in the growth and development of the institution.

The following four lines from the American poet Robert Frost haunt me at every turn in my life. Former Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru also kept these lines on his table:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to grow before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I like to remember these lines every day. Likewise, some other enduring axioms of great souls of the world are

  • “Love thy Neighbour” – Jesus Christ
  • “Be compassionate” – Lord Buddha
  • “Work is Worship” – Basavanna
  • “Non-violence is the weapon of the strong” – Mahatma Gandhi
  • “Be a Universal Man” – Rashtrakavi Kuvempu

These are my five mantras and I have derived something extraordinary from them: intellectual capability, ability to speak the truth without resorting to bamboozling; firm belief in hard work; and never being a victim to defeatist tendency. My life is a beehive of activity. Importantly, I am free from belligerence and personal aberrations. I have developed an attitude of loving even those who oppose me. I will never even talk or think ill of others.

“Equals to all, Equal left all”
